Changing Money

As with most of western Europe, the unit of currency in the Republic of Ireland is the euro. There are 100 cents in a euro and notes are issued in the following denominations: €5, €10, €20, €50, €100, €200 and €500.

Banks (open 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday) offer a bureau de change service. Most of the larger hotels will exchange travellers’ cheques and the main currencies for you – though remember always to check the exchange rate!
