By Foot
Cork City’s many pedestrianised thoroughfares and shopping arcades make it an ideal city to see on foot. And the stunning scenery of West Cork’s rugged coastline and hills is any hiker’s dream.
Despite a varied public transport system, walking is still the most popular way of getting around the flat of the city and its inner suburbs. The Tourist Information Office on Grand Parade will be able to provide details of the many guided tours of historic areas.
Plans already underway to ensure that the pedestrian priority areas are more numerous, wider, better kept, safer and better lit – ensuring that walking stays popular and practical for residents and tourists alike. And because Cork is Ireland’s largest county, you won’t run out of new places to explore.
